Jennifer Tilly's birth occurred on the streets of Los Angeles, California on September 16, 1958. The conditions were deplorable. Her mother, who was a failing schoolteacher and actor, made a living selling cars while her dad was an automobile salesman. Jennifer was the youngest of four kids in her family often accompanied her mother to performances in the theater and was much impressed by her. Jennifer's parents split when she was 5 years young. Jennifer lived in British Columbia for most of her childhood after her mother and the remaining four kids moved to the province. Jennifer was, despite having been quite an artistic child, was not a very knowledgeable person. The time she spent in Canadian schools caused her to be the frequent target of bullies. As her interest in theatre diminished as she entered high school, she began playing in theatre alongside her mother. All of her children were motivated by their mothers to follow their passion for the arts. After that, she immediately began acting.
